Obtaining a wedding visa to Australia. Marriage to an Australian citizen.
More and more Australian men find their “soulmate” on the other side of the globe, proving that for true love, even such long distances are not an obstacle. It is for such cases the Department of Immigration Australia (DIMIA) has introduced the Bridal visa (subclass 300) and the Wife visa (subclass 309). The procedure for obtaining these visas is generally similar.
The average time to obtain these types of visas is 15-18 months. After getting a fiancée visa you will have 9 months to marry your partner, and after 2 years you can get permanent resident status in Australia.
Necessary conditions for obtaining wedding visas to Australia:
– Your partner’s permanent resident or Australian citizen status
– getting to know your fiancé in person (at least one meeting)
– correctly drawn out package of documents confirming your relationship
All documents are sent by mail to the nearest Australian Embassy. But if the documents cause the officers of the embassy some doubts, you may also be asked to undergo a personal interview.
